Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Pretty much a portion of what’s left over after paying rent, utilities, and securing whatever is needed for my cats and home/personal care items, including clothing? As a result, not exactly a concrete set amount, plus I do make use of the Klarna app to “pay in four”, so a quarter of the purchase is taken from my BA every 2 weeks.

I don’t really have a beauty budget as such because I actually spend very little these days. Most of my new purchases are of the skincare variety – of which I always get when they are on sale. I tend to prefer good quality low cost skincare products that I have tried and have worked well for me.
In terms of cosmetics, my lipsticks, mascaras, foundation, eye brow pencils are all purchased from our budget beauty stores and the only products I tend to spend money on are blushes (I only use one at a time) and eyeshadow palettes – and that I have quite a stash of and I am not really looking to buy any more unless something spectacular comes along.

Not very well and better than I used to. If I want it, I get it. I start loading up the Sephora cart in February and September in anticipation of the half yearly 20% off events. I don’t wait for brands’ sales but if they have a friends and family for 20 to 30% off sale, I will buy what I want, stock up, etc.

Still a sucker for eyeshadow palettes and my buying has shifted from Pat McGrath now to Natasha Denona and ABH the last year or two. Also cream to powder, liquid and cream brushes as well as liquid eyeshadows. Really liking what About Face beauty has put out. I have picked up some of the Hindash liquids and Danessa Myricks Colorfix.

Since moving to the country from NYC a few years ago the availability to middle/high end makeup is nil. I’m at the mercy of drugstore. Any other makeup are tried and true or blind buys from via mail. So my budget is moot. I’ve never been inclined to blind buys so I’m saving tons of money living in the woods. In the days I was an urbanite I would say my budget was non existent and I was buying Cle de Peau to MAC. My husband and I aren’t inclined to restaurant eating so that freed up a lot of money being spent on makeup and hair salons. I’m fine with Covergirl etc but boy oh boy there was something truly wonderful about looking in my makeup bag and see many gleaming black compacts with Chanel on them. And that is my makeup tome. Happy weekend all !

Genevieve’s reply is much like mine these days. I’ve only really been purchasing skin care – replacements for products I use up (Embryolisse, Origins moisturizer with SPF 40, etc.). The fact that I have so much (too much) makeup added to the sad reality that many of my favourite brands are discontinuing or “deformulating” many of my favourite items is actually making it difficult to purchase much. And I do scour the shelves at Winners/Marshalls to see if some my old favourites or some interesting new-to-me items (REN’s body wash, for example) are available at really affordable prices.

Honestly, about the only new item I feel at all interested in buying is one of the new NARS blushes. I’ve had 2 fairly substantial Sephora gift cards since Xmas and haven’t used them, which really says something since in past, those babies have burned a hole in my pocket!
