Comments that do not adhere to our comment policy may be removed. Discussion and debate are highly encouraged but we expect community members to participate respectfully. Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Body products : Nubian Heritage body butter. Rich af, comes in a ton of scents/formulas, only about $13 a bottle. Replaced the OG formula of Bliss Body Butter for me, which I now don’t miss at all after being devoted since the late 90s. Only downside : the NH should reeeealllly come in a squeezy tube, as it’s FAR too thick to easily dispense from its bottle, so I saw it in half with a bread knife and decant into a big jar. Honorable mentions : Harry’s Shiso body wash smells divine (and is non-drying), as does Grandpa Soap Company’s pine tar bar.

Skin products : currently on my second jar of TCFS Caviar Lime Hydra Moist cream, and my third jar of Thank You Farmer True Water Deep Cream. Both feel gloriously plush and bouncy but not heavy or greasy, and don’t contain ingredients that break me out (rare combo, alas). Plus that brisk lime scent in the TCFS is so nice in warm weather. Honorable mention : ShopMissA / AOA Studio’s hydrocolloidal acne patches. $8.99 for **84** of them is unbeatable.

Hair Care : Pretty much all-in with R+Co these days. The Gemstone, Television, and Dallas shampoos and conditioners are all excellent, Skyline is the best dry shampoo I’ve ever used in my life (non-aerosol! no cyclomethicone to get on my face and cause cystic zits!), Dallas Thickening Spray and Balloon Dry Volume Spray are must-haves for styling, Suncatcher leave-in conditioner and (my latest acquisition) Zipper styling cream are also terrific for added moisture and/or control that doesn’t make my fine twice-bleached pink hair heavy, crunchy, or sticky.

Most repurchased body product: Probably Neutrogena’s salicylic acid body wash. I’m midway through the last bottle I purchased after my last shift at Ulta in January 2021, ha ha! I’m going to try a Pacifica body wash when I’m done.

Most repurchased skincare product: Either Stridex maximum (red box) pads or CeraVe foaming and/or hydrating cleansers. Haven’t bought Stridex pads for a couple years now (when I ran out, I tried some Tula pads that I didn’t like nearly enough for the much higher price, so I just switched to 2% BHA liquid by Paula’s Choice), and I still have one unopened backup of each cleanser before I have to find something else.

Most repurchased hair care product: Definitely Nizoral shampoo. Unfortunately, I think it’s the only brand of ketoconazole shampoo available over-the-counter (at least in the US) and it has an added fragrance that sometimes irritates my skin. But I can’t be bothered to visit a dermatologist just to get unscented prescription shampoo (not actually just for shampoo; I’m long overdue a visit to keep track of my moles, but ugh, making appointments!). If I couldn’t use Nizoral anymore, there’s probably a telehealth option I haven’t considered, but I would be more likely to just try…you guessed it…salicylic acid shampoo.

It might be different in your area, but my regular “family” doctor fills in the prescription for an unscented prescription shampoo (it’s basically Nizoral without fragrance and other fillers, and at half the price), I don’t need to visit the dermatologist or another specialty doctor (it takes ages sometimes to get an appointment with one, last year it took me 6 months to get my moles checked). She just prescribed me a couple of years ago during a regular annual visit, since we talked about my scalp issues, telling me the dandruff might also cause my back and chest acne, etc. She just needs to sign-off each time I re-order, but she approves it each time.
But then again… even annual check-ups need an appointment. I don’t mind making them online… but I also cringe if I have to call an office.

Most repurchased hair care product? Hmm…it was Paul Mitchell Tea Tree and Lavender Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner until those became just too expensive and untenable for me currently. Unless Ulta does a BOGO of 50% off the liters in the near future, that is. In the meantime I have switched to Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Shampoo.

Most repurchased body product? I have recently tried the Dermaveen Sensitive Relief Eczema lotion and it has been fabulous on my dry and slightly prone to eczema skin, so I will definitely be repurchasing that.

Most repurchased body product? Paula’s Choice Hair and Body Shampoo… I have purchased at least 3-4 bottles a year in the past 8-9 years. 😆 I think I rarely don’t have a bottle where I live, I could count the days on my fingers.

Most repurchased skincare product? Clearly Clinique’s Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm, although Paula’s Choice Cleansing Balm is slowly getting the first spot (only because it was launched recently and I’ve discovered the Clinique… well… I think more than 10 years ago).

Most repurchased hair care product? To not mention the same product from the second question, I’ll mention the Moroccanoil Treatment Hair Oil; although the Bumble and Bumble Heat/UV Protective Primer is certainly coming close.

Most repurchased body product? I don’t think I have one, I rarely repurchase as there are so many new ones to try. I get bored easily.
Most repurchased skincare product? Clinique Take the Day Off Balm, I’ve used it for years now. Interesting that I’m not bored with it yet. 🙂
Most repurchased hair care product? Same as with body products and I have yet to find some hair care that does everything for my very fine hair and sometime irritated, itching scalp.
